Blue Earth County Historical Society
Located at the Heritage Center the museum highlights settlement, development, history, and culture of Blue Earth County and Mankato, including hundreds of artifacts from Blue Earth County Historical Society Collection in the exhibit gallery. The archives feature a library of historical data, papers, files, photographs and books, etc., all indexed for use in family history and scholarly research. Carnegie Art Center & Library
This exhibition gallery space displays regional artists. Exhibits change monthly and our gift shop sells the works by local and regional artists. This is the Carnegie Library that was written about in the Maud Hart Lovelace books. Exhibition season runs September - July. Gift shop is open during gallery hours. Visit the picturesque Seppman Mill and hike nearly 5 miles of trails through native prairie and oak savannah. Mount Kato Ski Area
Enjoy our 19 runs, 240' vertical drop, longest run 2800', 5 quad lifts, 3 double lifts. Free adult lessons are given when renting equipment; snow tubing (height 42" & over), 2 handle tows and specially designed snow tubes. Skiing is from late November - late March. R. D. Hubbard House
The R. D. Hubbard House was built in 1871. This French Second Empire home has been restored to its 1905 appearance. The restoration includes turn of the century furnishings, including Tiffany lamps. The grounds contain the award winning Palmer Centennial Gardens and Carriage House with a variety of carriages and other antique vehicles. R. D. Hubbard was a prominent Mankato businessman who founded Hubbard Milling, which produced "Mother Hubbard" flour. Red Jacket Trail
This 13-mile trail has about 6-miles paved, from the Depot in downtown Mankato, along the riverfront out of town to the village of Rapidan. It passes over three railroad trestles, including the historic Red Jacket Trestle, 80-feet high and 550-feet long, over the Le Sueur River. From Rapidan, cyclists can follow a paved shoulder on County Road 9 to a park with a hydroelectric dam. The Red Jacket Trail connects with the Sakatah Trail via Mankato River Trail.
