Cafesjian's Carousel
The Cafesjian's Carousel was saved from the auction block in 1988 and kept in storage since 1996. Today it is open at its plush new quarters in Como Park, just a few furlongs from where it all began at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds 89 years ago. The carousel's new home is a $1.1 million Victorian pavilion south of the Como Conservatory. Music comes from a band organ rebuilt by carousel volunteers. In warm weather, organ music will waft from the carousel pavilion when the large overhead doors are opened. $1.50 is charged for all ages, except infants under 1 year ride free. Jackson Street Roundhouse
The roundhouse was built by the Great Northern Railroad in 1907 and today is located on the site of the first railroad maintenance shops in Minnesota. The old steam locomotive "Roundhouse" is being turned into a museum of Minnesota Railroading. The turntable has been restored and the roundhouse is open for visitors all year long. Old Muskego Church
The Old Muskego Church was the first church built by Norwegian immigrants in America. The church was originally constructed in Racine, Wisconsin in 1844, but by the beginning of the twentieth century had outlived it usefulness and in 1904 was carefully dismantled and reconstructed on the grounds of Luther Seminary.
